Focus
Unquestionably, one of the most critical experiences contributing to peak performance in professional sports––a central pillar of success. FOCUS includes a number of dynamic mental faculties such as: Awareness, Mindfulness, Attention, & Concentration. All of these terms describe the highly developed experience an athlete must embody in order to gain mastery over many athletic skills, emotions and public venues . When FOCUS is absent or poorly developed, athletic performance will be inconsistent, leading to error and frustration. There are many simple, yet effective techniques available to help athletes develop a single-pointed FOCUS that can serve as a foundation, upon which, every other mental and physical athletic skill can be built. FOCUS should be given priority in every athleteʼs repertoire of deliberate practice.
